I didn't see it coming.
It wasn't even on the radar!
Levi has been having a tough time figuring out what he wants to do with his life.
Struggling with friends, and coming to terms with some
personal "stuff" that will affect him in the long term.
He loves working with his dad,
but also knows he doesn't want to be a carpenter.
Sales-maybe. He has the personality for it.
Missions-not full time.
University? He wants the dorm and college experience.
But not sure he wants a four year degree.
Stay at BSC. This is where we are at.
Plug along and see where the Lord takes us (Levi).
New Year's Eve was a rough night for Levi.
He went through a hurtful situation.
He came through on the other side.
“But as for you, you meant evil against me;
but God meant it for good,
in order to bring it about as it is this day,
to save many people.
A couple of months ago we were on a road trip.
We went through this tiny town called Ellendale, North Dakota.
I told Eric, "Hey, this is where that little college is-let's go find it."
WOW-what a surprise when we
pulled in and saw a "real college"!
We knew it was a small college,
and it is an AG school.
We had also heard many good things about it.
But we were expecting one, maybe two buildings.
NOPE-an entire campus loomed.
Obviously, it's still a small school-but compared to
what we were expecting, we were pleasantly surprised!
I called Levi!
I told him Trinity was actually bigger than we
realized and asked him more questions.
He knew several people that had been there to get a pastor's degree, as well as a young lady
whose parents work on campus.
I did some research as we drove to our next destination-
I was intrigued.
I studied some more that night in the hotel.
Something was planted in my heart.
I had no idea what or why.
Fast forward seven months.
My mother's heart was hurting.
Eric's ire was up.
We barely had time to process the phone call
we had just received. Levi had a confrontation
at a New year's party and left.
Though my heart was hurting-I was proud of him for being his own man, and leaving.
(there was no drinking or drugs involved-just a hurtful situation brought on by people who are supposed to be his closest friends)
I called to check on him and see what he was up to.
He has his dad's gypsy soul and was out
driving around to clear his head!
I wanted him to come home-too many drunks on the road to be wandering around on New Year's Eve.
I hung up, we were all sad, but okay.
Eric's phone rings.
Levi pulled in to get gas, but couldn't get the truck to start.
After working through that snafu,
Eric talked Levi into calling his mentor.
To make a long story short-
He did, went to his house, and spent an amazing,
fun-filled, evening with a bunch of the
student leaders from church.
In his words, "now that's what a party should be-fun."
we realized Levi needed a change in his life.
Eric and I talked, and decided to look
at Trinity as a viable option-
a next step for Levi.
It checked quite a few of the boxes on Levi's list-
but he was still unsure.
~safe social atmosphere
~business degree, option of 2 or 4 year
We scheduled a meeting on one of the student preview days. Levi was still dragging his feet and not on board-
but he's a good kid and was going to attend the preview days.
While clicking around on the website,
I discovered a program at Trinity that seemed right
up Levi's alley.
Pack Your Bags.
Catchy name-amazing program.
I didn't say anything to Levi, but Eric and I were excited!
A week later, Levi told me he wanted to take a
year off of school and work.
He said " I love doing the framing and drywall
and I need a break from school."
I pulled up the Pack Your Bags page and read through the information with him.
